we are still here!!

Yes.. in June the program completed three years!! nd the first thing that come to the mind is dat "we are still here". Its a wonder; a nonsense, unorganised program reaches three year and most beautiful thing is dat every sunday- to be frank enough, we missed a four sundays- we were there in the slum with the children. Its is a wonder!! money for the program was always there!! and in all sundays one or the other was here to share the breakfast!! Personally for me this is an intiative which taught me the importance of starting something and continuing it over a period of time. It gives a kind of confidence and a say in the process. As often we say - picture can not be drown with out a wall - Yes there is wall, there is a base which survived a small period of time and we are part of it !!
great december ..sweater program went really well...1000 sweaters for 1000 children and 100000 rupees!! it waz a wonder ..nd nxt year dream is 10000 sweaters!!

we ride ..we ride

Yes.. in June the program completed one year!! nd the first thing that come to the mind is dat "we are still here". Its a wonder a nonsense, unorganised program reaches its one year nd most beautiful thing is dat every sunday- to be frank enough, we missed out one sunday- we were there in the slum with the children nd we really see it as a wonder!! money for the program was always there!! nd in all sundays one or the other was there to share the breakfast!! in a very objective way we can perseive it as the potential of the system. Ya, the B'lore city or the people/professional living here have the potential to support the poor, marginalised children nd it is expressed through our program.
For me,personaly this is an intiative which taught me the importance of starting something and continuing it over a period of time. It gives a kind of confidence nd a say in the process. As often we say - picture can not b drown with out a wall - Yes there is wall, there is a base which survived a small period of time nd i am part of it !!

There were a lot of things that was happening after my last posting. nd strangely most of the happenings did nt produce any result. The first thing was that I quit my job with an objective of spending some quality time for the preschool project. Second, a social worker trainee ( Manju) joined with the project for two months for the school project. Third, a staff from Chaithanya started weekely visits to the slum for preschool project. All this three efforts did nt bring in tangible results. The school project is still in its initial stage. Some good things happend in this days are 1. Nicloe -our US student - still think abt the project nd support it from US. 2. A number of professionals joined with the sunday program and shows a lot of commitment- let me name three of them Binson,Kiran and Rajeesh- 3.A new community of sisiters from the near by area have taken up interest in supprting the project 4.Sujit and his family has taken up the responsibilty of preparing breakfast every sunday. The program also offer little fun nd strange experiences. We got a Gypsy Jeep for the program. But the enthusiasm didnt last long as most of the time we were reparing and pushing it rather than driving it!! yes after all, when we turn back there is only one thing to say thank you Jesus " still we ride ..we ride"

death is not a celebration!!

this time let me bring in an email ..nd the reply hi all
This mail is to share a very sad news. One of our breakfast child died out of fever yesterday. She is a girl child of 6-7 years old. it seems dat she had fever and the parents took her to hospital in a very later stage. The seen which saw on sunday when we went for the breakfast programme was really pathetic. The body of the child was kept in the ground in front of the tent. No mat or not even a good piece of white cloth to cover. She had the same old cloths she wore before death. The mother was crying loud inside the tent, father - an young man of 24- 26 years - was sitting out side the tents with his neighbours. They said by twelve noon she will be buried some where near by.
Hailing from a culture where child is seen as a precious gift of god, the incident lead us to very conflicting thoughts on our roles and responsibilities to the people around us !!........... linto nd the replies ........

looking at the growth!!

I wonder ..wonder about the concept..wonder about the acceptability ..wonder the experiments ..wonder the experience..just to record .. let me put down the heading given to the blog in the begining it was like this .. ' Breakfast4you is a creative network of youth for children living in the streets and slums of India. The vision is to evolve a network of small communities for marginalised children across the globe' ( not exactly like this little more !!) then we made short and sharp like this !!) today i change it to "Breakfast4you is a creative network of youth for children living in the slums of bangalore. Its a platform to dream – design – experiment – execute programmes and projects that can motivate youth to professionally involve in developmental issues" Indeed we are growing and over the years its getting more clear where we are moving ahead..

half-full or half-empty? don't pose d question 2 a tumbler. instead, ask d half moon. then u wil know d real question: waxing or waning?.
